Product Experience Specialist
Responsibilities:
The product experience specialist is responsible for overall product quality including scheduling testing, coordinating testing schedules, and quality assurance documentation for any interactive or software project in-house. This person is a team member of all interactive, software, and web jobs from the start and must be able to identify potential risks in a project early on. The product experience specialist must inform the project/product manager of any unacceptable levels of workmanship that may affect the end-user’s product experience.
Requirements:
- Four-year college degree is preferable
- Two years experience in the quality assurance aspects of interactive media production, software development, and internet application/web site development
- Two years experience as a technical writer in the areas of user manuals, online help systems, and web-based, self-paced tutorial and training systems
- Thorough understanding of interactive media/software testing including performance testing, reconciling features with desired specifications, proofing, and bug tracking
- Excellent technical writing skills
Computer Skills:
- Proficiency in word processing, in-house scheduling software, bug tracking software, date and contact software, and spreadsheet software
- Thorough understanding of basic computer operational procedures, workstation set-up including Mac and Windows operating systems, file organization, nomenclature, and desktop hierarchical organization
Duties:
- Meet regularly with the traffic manager to maintain awareness of all projects scheduled in production that require quality assurance testing
- Meet regularly with product manager to review specs and performance/experience criteria for all products
- Create test plan document(s) based on functional specifications and performance/experience criteria
- Assist in the creation of storyboards as needed
- Supervise/perform the proof reading for content/graphics
- Supervise/perform the functionality testing of all projects in development
- Schedule and supervise internal and external testers
- Keep excellent testing documentation and manage the bug tracking system
- Assemble all testing results/feedback and coordinate any correction cycles
- Expedite correction cycles and make copies of all material as needed
- Keep abreast of all deadlines and provide status reports to project managers
- Report any changes in schedule or problems (technical or design) to project managers
- Archive information pertinent to the project once testing is complete and supply to project manager and product manager
- Create content (written and visual) for online product help system
- Create content (written and visual) for web-based, self-paced product tutorial and product training systems
- Work with marketing manager to develop customer experience feedback surveys and other data gathering mechanisms
- Provide backup for customer support
Working Relationships:
The product experience specialist reports directly to the customer sales support specialist.
